SomaPlayer: A Convenient Way to Listen to SomaFM Web Radio Stations on Chrome
SomaPlayer is a Chrome extension developed by Sarah Vessels that allows users to easily listen to SomaFM web radio stations directly from their browser. With SomaPlayer, there is no need to download .pls playlist files or open them in external media players. All the SomaFM stations are listed in the extension's popup, accessible by clicking the SomaPlayer icon in the Chrome window.
Once you choose a station and hit Play, the popup will periodically update to display the name and artist of the currently playing track. Additionally, SomaPlayer offers desktop notifications that inform you about the currently playing song. These notifications can be disabled in the extension's options page.
One of the standout features of SomaPlayer is its ability to scrobble SomaFM stations to Last.fm. By authenticating with your Last.fm account, SomaPlayer will scrobble the tracks you listen to on SomaFM. Scrobbling can be enabled or disabled in the extension's options page.
Overall, SomaPlayer provides a convenient and streamlined way to listen to SomaFM web radio stations directly from your Chrome browser, without the need for external media players or manual playlist downloads.
